Owning a business that is also a mission is not for the faint of heart. It's not just about the bottom line; it's about creating a positive change in the world.

It was fitness redefined, a place where all bodies and goals were welcomed and celebrated, but for me it was personal.
I wanted others to experience liberation.
I'd been under the heavy weight (pun intended) of traditional body-shame driven fitness and needed fitness that was safe for my body and my brain. Becoming an instructor and opening the studio was a true hero's journey for me.
I was on a purpose driven high... and then as abruptly as I fell in love with it, I fell out of love with it. There was so much to learn and so many problems I hadn't foreseen or planned for. Leadership, Finances, Client Experience, Marketing, Staffing Issues were all at once and all the time issues.. and at the same time I had lost the love for the class because every time I went to take class I was in my head about the business.
My business brain never turned off. I felt ON all the time. Every where I went in my small community I saw someone from the studio. No matter how hard I worked my revenue did not increase.
For every client I gained I lost another. My revenue had plateaued and my expenses were increasing.
I felt immense pressure to have it all figured out and to use the tools I'd already paid for; namely barre3 and their franchise operating systems.
I was overwhelmed, worried, doubted myself as a business owner. I struggled with even the smallest of decisions.
This has been the experience of every other franchise owner that I have spoken to.
BUT I wanted something different.
